WetCanvas challenge
On the WetCanvas forum there are a lot of challenges each month. This month I decided to participate in the challenge in the Animal and Wildlife forum. I chose one of the reference pictures and did 2 paintings, in 2 differente media. The first one was in watercolors in my Watercolor journal (I already showed you this one in another post) and today I finished the second one, done in alcohol inks. The swans were masked, then I 'flowed' the background. Rubbed of the masking and then 'painted' the swans with ink, alcohol and markers. I love how they both turned out.

Watercolor paintings in my journal
I have been painting all weekend! In between sitting outside in the warm sunshine I have painted 2 watercolors in my Moleskin watercolor journal 11 1/2" x 8 1/2". The painting with the swans is for the challenge in of of the forums on WetCanvas and the water lily is for me ;-). I am also painting the swans in alcohol inks. The reference of the water lily was a picture I took of the water lilies in the pond in Mission San Juan Capristrano in California last May.

This Weekends Drawing Event
I just love the WDE (Weekend Drawing Event) on WetCanvas. Every week (on Friday) someone posts 16 images and you can choose one (or more) to paint, draw, in every medium you like. Then you post your result to the thread. This week the image of the geese is very popular. I chose this image as well, making a quick pen and watercolor sketch in my Moleskine Watercolor Journal.
