This morning I have been making chunkies (4" x 4") for the PAT (Pick a Theme) on www.atcsforall.com. This is how it works. A host in posting several groups with the medium the chunkies (or ATCs) should be made in and you can subscribe to one of these groups. You put down your name and the theme you want to receive your chunkies in. When the group is full, you start creating the chunkies for the other members of the theme, one chunky in their theme. So this time I made a Pink Rose, a Vintage Lady, Mushroom and Vintage Things with Wings.

Poppies in alcohol ink and flamingos in watercolor :-)
My sister came for dinner yesterday and after dessert we decided to play some more with the alcohol inks. My sister is more of a mandala/zentangle/doodle kind of person, I am more a painter. But we both love working with alcohol inks!
I made painted a few poppies. With two of them I created lovely note / greeting cards. These are for sale in my Etsy Shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/Kitty69
And I painted flamingos in watercolor for the WDE (Weekend Drawing Event) on WetCanvas. I just love flamingos and the reference photo really caught my interest. The size is 9" x 12".

ACEO's / ATC's in alcohol ink
Gosh... I love alcohol ink! It is so much fun to work with the inks. You cannot control it, it flows where-ever it wants to go and some colors behave differently then others. I made some landscape ACEO's with the alcohol inks on glossy cardstock. The ink behaves differently on the cardstock in comparison with Yupo paper, which is a plastic kind of paper. It doesn't flow so freely, but I like the effect.
I enrolled myself on a 3-week online training with Karen Walker, to learn more techniques on how to work with alcohol ink. It will start in a few weeks time and I am really looking forward to it. In the meantime I need to find a Dutch or European supplier of the inks and paper. The ink comes only in small bottles and the ones we brought from the US are being used often ;-).

Hello, I am back!
Hello all, I am back from vacation. Me and my sister had a great time! We travelled to the US, flew to Los Angeles and spent a few days in Laguna Beach before attending the art retreat CREATE in Irvine. I will show you some of the products of the workshops I took later on this blog. From Irvine we went to Los Angeles, on to San Luis Obispo. Then travelled on the Pacific Coast Highway 1 (beautiful!!) to Pacific Grove, where we spend some lovely days in a beautiful old cottage. And then the final few days were spend in San Francisco, before heading back home.
And now I am back, jet lagged, not competely unpacked, but ready to show you some new work. I followed a workshop on working with alcohol inks and I just love it! The inks go where-ever they want to go, they are hard to control but it makes great art. I wanted to show you some art I did with the alcohol inks but Blogger turns my pictures and I cannot fix it... So I will show you one work I did in the workshop I took with Chris Cozen, deeply layered collage. I love the process of collageing and painting with the Golden fluid acrylics.
