New mixed media mosaic

A few weeks ago Nicola from the UK sent me a message on Etsy asking me if I would be willing to make a mixed media mosaic for her husband, who was born in the Netherlands. She would like to have some images included from the city he lived in. As I was telling her I could use any images she liked, she sent me pictures of her and her husband, of the kids and the cat. And I made her a mixed media mosaic. The size is 15 x 15 cms, 6"x 6"and is made on a mdf board.

I showed her the progress and she was very happy with it. I finished the piece yesterday and it is ready for shipping! I hope it will arrive before Valentine's day.

Nieuwe workshop data!

For my Dutch readers ;-). New workshop data.

Zoals sommige van jullie weten, geef ik 2 workshops bij de Volksuniversiteit in Soest.

Op donderdagavond 7 en 14 november 2013 geef ik de workshop "Paneeltje van klei-tegeltjes".
Tijdens deze workshop maken we een klein paneeltje met diverse tegeltjes. We maken deze tegeltjes zelf van klei met verschillende technieken. We werken met polymeerklei, stempels, verf, mica poeder, bladzilver en -goud, diverse bedeltjes en we leren om tegeltjes te maken met afbeeldingen. Polymeerklei is een kunst-stof boetseerklei. Het materiaal is goed kneedbaar en blijft zacht zolang het niet gebakken is. Afbakken kan in een gewone keukenoven met lage temperaturen.

En op donderdagavond 6 maart 2014 geef ik een workshop Mixed Media Canvas.
Wat is mixed media? Mixed media betekent in het Nederlands gemengde technieken. Tijdens deze workshop maken we een schilderij door toepassing van verschillende technieken, zoals bijvoorbeeld schilderen, collage maken, stempelen, enzovoort. Ervaring met schilderen is niet nodig. We werken met papier, verf, afbeeldingen, stempels, stencils, inkt en verder van alles en nog wat. Eerst komt de achter-grond aan bod en daarna schilderen we de afbeelding.

Nieuwe workshop en nieuwe data!

Er is een nieuwe workshop: in één avond maken we een ATC (Artist Trading Card) van polymer klei. De workshop is gepland op donderdagavond 16 mei 2013.

Playing in the St. Patricks Day athon today!

Today I have been making several ATC's for the St. Patricks Day athon on atcsforall.com. And made some chunkies for a swap. I also made a few polymer clay tiles for a new mosaic I am working on. It will be a 25 x 25 cm piece. I will show it when it's ready ;-). It has been a very creative day!

Workshop Mosaic with polymer clay tiles

Yesterday was the evening of the workshop Mosaic with polymer clay. There were 6 students in the class, all of them made a lovely mosaic panel with handmade polymer clay tiles. We created the tiles with clay, pictures, mica powders, embellishments, paint, etc. It was great fun! The panels are 15 x 15 cms canvasboards.

Lazy day

I have been making some more ATCs for the Valentine athon on ATCsforall and traded almost all of them.

And I have some other news. The polymer clay tiles workshop from March the 14th is full! If you have not gotten round to register, let me know. I am planning another one later this year, besides the one I will teach at the Volksuniversiteit Soest in November. The workshop for the Volkuniversiteit Soest is a 2-evening workshop and preliminary scheduled for the 7th and 14th of November.

And I am also working on a new video on how to create some art journal pages. Watch my channel!

New polymer clay items

Yesterday I have been working on some new polymer clay items for both my Etsy shop and the art fair I will be attending in April. I made 2 small canvasses with polymer clay (10 x 10 cms, deep edge) and one ATC.

I also sold a few more mixed media paintings on Etsy, so these will be next. I need to create more stock to take with me to the fair. With the pieces I can also promote my Mixed Media and Polymer clay workshops.
